Diane Valencia (aka DiYan BukoBomba) is a d.i.y. multi-media artist, musician, community organizer, cultural worker & overall “chronic-ill creatrix.” My family are immigrants from the Bicol region of Philippines and I was born on Tongva territory & raised in the neighborhood of historic filipinotown and east hollywood in los angeles. Ima a Chronic-iLL creatrix-- my superpowers are continually shedding, transforming & regenerating into all kinds of creations. I think I came from a lost lineage of people, of oppressed ancestors who were greatly underestimated. When i feel my blood memory rush through my overcurved crooked spine, inflamed body and flares of bright red scalp and shedding skin, I imagine all my rebel ancient ancestors who dared to speak truth and freedom yet were beaten and burned at the stake in their pursuit of intergenerational liberation. I imagine I am their living dreams and prayers of their misunderstood pain. Through my pursuit of healing, liberation, creations, joy and pure existence, I am their resilient seed and their legacy in bloom.

My current interests include reconnecting to ancient ancestral practices of living & creating in cooperation with mother earth & water. I love working with young folks and old, intergenerational. I love collaborating with the cosmos & flora & fauna. I love exploring the interconnections across cultures & species. Im a sou(L)ar pyromaniac- im interested in sparking curiosity & opening doors of earth ancestral wisdom & ways through art & community collaborations.
